I didn't know you could off-road a Prius

I should have a 3-day weekend every weekend. Going back to work after you've been teased with an extra day is just not fair. We found out we have a friend with an awesome cabin past Park City, and we decided a spontaneous trip was in order.  I don't know why we've never done this because it's so close. The only thing we forgot was that it was raining, and dirt plus rain equals mud. And mud plus Prius was probably not the best idea. Because, well, it's a Prius. They run on grass and good vibes. And if the hybrid engine could talk he would cry and complain that he didn't get to go to yoga that morning, and then hold a grudge against us for several days. We managed to get up the roads pretty well, but I don't think we'll be taking him on mountain trips anytime soon. We also forgot that rain turns to snow when you get up high enough, and we woke up to white outside the window. Somehow it wasn't sticking, which was lucky for us. The fire we tried to build didn't keep us very warm either, and Matt and I camped out on the couch together like two besties at sleepover so we could stay warm. (you know, my feet by his head and his feet by my head...). We all hung out the next morning eating E.L. Fudge cookies (double stuffed, of course) and popcorn leftover from our movie the night before. We wanted to get a move on and get some breakfast, but only got two hundred feet before our friends' car ran out of gas. oops. I've never raced so fast to beat impending storm clouds. It wouldn't have been good to have two cars stuck. Prius to the rescue! I had the best time. We'll be going up again when the weather is a little better.

Matt and I found a new ceviche restaurant too. Peruvian ceviche. Oh geez...

ahem. that would be Maple Bacon.
a million points goes to who can guess this movie...

Craft Lake City 2012

I'm going to Craft Lake City! August! 11th! It's the most happenin' place to be. And it's FREE.

There is ALWAYS a lot of really really cool stuff there. I'm amazed at how talented our little Salt Lick can be. I'm amazed that it's only in it's 4th year.

Here are some new flava flavs I'm thinking of doing:

Frenchies:
....................................
Lemon Basil Chocolate
Maple Bacon
Rose
Orange Creamsicle
Chocolate Balsamic
.....................................

I'm going to have a lot of the same flavors I had last year too...!

(and I'll have fresh, yummy marshmallows too...)

Rainbow

I'm finally able to show you this adorable cake I got to do a couple of weeks ago. The mama wanted to make a fun cake for her one-year old's first birthday that could be smashed into with little baby hands. They wanted it to be bright like the rainbow. The cake and frosting are both vanilla flavored. She said that it was a success, and she could hardly snap these pics before baby dug in! Isn't that little one adorable??

Some cool things I've seen lately

I totally went against what everyone said and looked at the sun during the eclipse yesterday. It just looked like big white blob. Lucky for me my husband is observant and found this chain-link shadow on the wall through the blinds and said, "Hey? Isn't that the eclipse?" That's why I married him folks.

A weird looking car? Nope. Just a vintage special edition Rolls Royce (or Silver Cloud according to my car-savant friend) that was sitting in a parking lot downtown by my house. (I just Googled it-pretty sure it's a Silver Cloud).

If Crate and Barrel catered to the low-income demographic I'd have this in my house.

Oh hello Taylor Swift. I'm not quite familiar with your music but it looks as though you stay in super nice houses in Park City...
I helped at a small dinner party on Saturday night and lived the lifestyle of the rich and the famous.

Conclusion

Beehive Bazaar... success!! Thank you to all of you that came to support it. I sold out of everything! (Minus the two bags of marshmallows- and the one I gave to a little girl). I was so pleased and smiling all weekend! I hope everyone enjoyed the goodies! Remember: if you didn't get a chance to buy some there, I do special orders. So just email me and we'll getcha some :)

If any of you have any requests on flavors you'd like to see, then let me know. I love to see what other people want! I can do almost anything!

A ballet blooper

I've been so busy this week! Craving sleep, massages, and ice cream (see below). I'll be back to posting regularly next week I swear.

In the meantime, I found these ballet bloopers. I have a confession, I think I've fallen only a handful of times while dancing, and two of the biggest ones were right on stage during a performance. I still cringe when I think about it! And it hurts! (ok so mostly it hurts my ego.) There's nothing more embarrassing then when your body falls and it's heard over the music. geez.

ah yes. these falls look oddly familiar...

BBQ, wizardy, marshmallows, and a sink that won't quit

Matt's little bro graduated on Friday. The day was full of appointments: ceremony at 11, lunch at 1:30, star wars cake pickup at 4:30, bbq dinner at the 'rents at 5, then graduation party with friends by 10. I had the whole day off from work and it never felt so good. And this bbq wasn't grillin' in the back yard. This was authentic smoked bbq from a local place that does it like Texas. So much meat. And ice cream and cupcakes. I needed a detox after that meal.  On Sunday I was making marshmallows for the Beehive Bazaar, and I went to turn on the sink and I felt this little grinding in the handles and all of a sudden there was a gushing of water, a lot of turning of handles, and a realization that we'd made our own Niagara Falls. We tried to turn that stupid thing off but it wasn't having it. Matt proceeded to fill up a pot of water and dump it outside until the maintenance guy could get there and replace our faucet. Water everywhere. When it rains, it pours. Literally.

May The 4th Be With You

I'm a self-professed Star Wars nerd. There I said it. I don't go to conventions or anything, but I love the series. So when I got asked to make a Star Wars Lego graduation cake I was super excited. I friend I work with has a boyfriend graduating from Architecture school today, so an awesome cake is in order. He loves Star Wars and Legos, and she was so excited to put "May The 4th Be With You" on it. I loved the idea of making it look like it's made out of legos. And you can't really tell in the pic, but there is glittery luster dust to make it look like it's the galaxy. I worked into the late hours on this one, so at least I had my Star Wars shirt on.

Happy Star Wars Day

Cake is: Vanilla with strawberry buttercream and lemon buttercream
