I smile when I see these

Just warming up for my retransformation. You might think I'm not serious, but I'm going to give it a good try. This summer is proving to be a busy one, so it may not be by the end of the season, but it will definitely happen! There's much to do...

Oh the pretty things you'll see

If any of you are in the SLC area on August 13th, come check out Craft Lake City. It's a full day of shopping flea market style, but you get to buy local handmade stuff. I went last year and it was super fun. There's so much to see! It's fun to walk around and see what people are making and selling, and chances are you'll grab some really cool stuff- from letterpress to jewelry. There's even food, which is where yours truly will be selling some scrumptious little goodies...! Check back for updates!

Hooray for local crafting!

Pattern

I had the wonderful opportunity to make a cake for a friend's wedding. She got married June 3 in an outdoor wedding. She is such a cute girl. She has great style too, as you can tell. The first idea she had was completely different, so when she came to me with this idea and chose the colors, it was definitely a turn around, but I loved it from the beginning.
I gave her the option of having each tier be a different flavor, and each flavor have a different filling. She took it and ran with it-just like I would. Here's what's on the inside:
lemon poppyseed with strawberry buttercream on the bottom, red velvet with cream cheese frosting in the middle, and chocolate with chocolate buttercream on top. yummy yummy yummy.....

Chocolate

chocolate decor

I'm going to play this out to the bitter end! My last class in school, which was chocolate. I adored this class. I was at a point where I could feel more comfortable, so enjoying myself was much easier. Working with chocolate definitely isn't easy when you do it the right way. It takes so much time and patience. And it's very temperamental. Just humidity and temperature can affect how your chocolate reacts. It's really an art form-I respect the people who are really good at it. Chocolate takes on it's own life. Probably some of the most therapeutic times was when I was in this class dipping chocolates. We did a lot of candies too. Peppermints, jellies, nougat, caramel...We also had the chance to make a chocolate showpiece. Ever seen those Food Network Challenges? Have you seen one with chocolate? It's preeetttttyyyy awwwweessooommmmme...!

I got married today. He's my very best and dear friend. I love him. Seriously ladies, you've got to get yourself a man that sends flowers and Spanish poetry. sigh...
